The Institute of the Carmelite Sisters of St. Teresa (C.S.S.T) was founded in 1887 by Mother Teresa of St. Rose of Lima(a resident of Chennai) in the town of Ernakulam in Kerala.It was a time when the vast majority of people were living in squalor and misery and the poor were compelled to be on the streets to earn a living. A caste-ridden society was the order of the day.Mother Teresa, an educationist with a spiritual and social thrust and great zeal, was convinced that all human beings are children of God, with a right to live in dignity.With the first foundation, St. Teresa’s Covent Ernakulam, she started a school where all types of students, irrespective of their social and financial status, were admitted.
 
 
 
 
 
HISTORY OF THE INSTITUTE
 
The Institute of the Carmelite Sisters of St. Teresa (C.S.S.T) was founded in 1887 by Mother Teresa of St. Rose of Lima(a resident of Chennai) in the town of Ernakulam in Kerala.This was a time when the vast majority of people were living in squalor and misery and the poor were compelled to begon the streets to earn a living. A caste-ridden society was the order of the day.Mother Teresa, an educationist with a spiritual and social thrust and great zeal, was convinced that all human beings are children of God, with a right to live in dignity.With the first foundation, St. Teresa’s Convent Ernakulam, she started a school where all types of students, irrespective of their social and financial status, were admitted. In the short span of her life as Foundress(1887-1902), she also set up an orphanage for the poor, whom society had discarded, and personally nursed the sick inmates of the convent during epidmics at that time. A dispensary, Industrial school for the poor, and a Home for the Aged poor, were also started, She was a pacesetter who visited even the prison and attended to the spiritual needs of the prisoners. She brought about liberation of many victims from the chains of casteism and poverty.sss

Imbued with her spirit, the Carmelite sisters of St. Teresa serve in the field of education, social and health action.

Holy Angels' Convent School was opened in Arya Puri opposite Bhopa Bus Stand(old) on the 8th July, 1963, by the Carmeite Sisters of St. Teresa, who have been working in India and abroad since 1887. It is managed by the Nirmal Society registered in U.P. under the Uttar Pradesh Societies Registration Act, 1953. The missionaries of C.S.S.T. are a society of Sisters founded by Mother Teresa of St. Rose of Lima in 1887 at Ernakulam (Kochi).It was her desire to instruct the youth and lead them along the right path. For this purpose, she started preaching missions , conducting camps and running educational institutions. The missionary schools are today spread all over the world and are invelved in different activites. In India they are running schools, colleges technical institutions, orphanges and health centres for the well being of the people.As a catholic School we are working not only for the intellectual, Cultureal and physical development of our children from the earliest stages but also the formation of character by inculcating sound moral principles, so that they grow up as good children of God and resposible citizens of the country. The first acadmic year of the School commenced in March, 1963. At present the School is running classes from L.K.G. to XII(XI and XII only for girls). The Curriculmn of the school is of the Central Board of Secondary Education and the students are prepared for the All India Secondary and Senior Secondary Certificates Examination conducted by the C.B.S.E. following N.C.E.R.T. Syllabi.nsible citizens of our country.Education of children is the joint responsibility of School Authorities and the paents.
