    The Institute of the Carmelite Sisters of St. Teresa (C.S.S.T) was founded in 1887 by Mother Teresa of St. Rose of Lima(a resident of Chennai) in the town of Ernakulam in Kerala.It was a time when the vast majority of people were living in squalor and misery and the poor were compelled to be on the streets to earn a living. A caste-ridden society was the order of the day.Mother Teresa, an educationist with a spiritual and social thrust and great zeal, was convinced that all human beings are children of God, with a right to live in dignity.With the first foundation, St. Teresa’s Covent Ernakulam, she started a school where all types of students, irrespective of their social and financial status, were admitted.
     
     
     
     
     
    Physics Lab
     
    The school has spacious and airy Physics lab. One wall of Physics Lab is decorated with photographs of renowned scientists adding to learning atmosphere. According to CBSE norms some of the main apparatus in the lab is barometer, travelling microscope sonometer, resonance tube, P-N-P and N-P-N transistor characteristics apparatus, zoner diode, potentiometer, Meter Bridge, Ohm's law apparatus, spherometer, screw gauge verniercallipers, physical balance, Searle's apparatus etc.
    The culmination of the theoretical classes of physics is attained after the practical lesson in the lab, which enhances interest with concrete knowledge of the subject.
