The Eco Club of Holy Angels' Convent School is a students' movement to protect and cherish the environment. Started in 2004, the goal of the club is to connect with nature through positive learning experiences, which will create environmental awareness. Presently there are 400 members in the club.The Eco Club aims at spreading ecological sensitivity by training its members in handling local environmental problems. Various activities like planting a herbal garden, making bird houses and nesting boxes, plantation programs, sensitizing the students to minimize the use of plastic bags,have been taken up. The club promotes conservation of water, through minimizing its use and rain water harvesting. The Club has been organizing awareness programs such as participating in Wild Wisdom Quiz Competition, pledge writing competition, street plays, exhibition, rallies etc, regarding various environmental issues. Children are educated about the reuse of waste material through waste material competition using eco friendly material.
Eight members of the club participated in the project writing competition on Biodiversity organized by the Tunza International Children's Forum, a youth forum formed by UNO and got selected for the International Conference. Three of them were able to attend the conference in 2008 in Norway.
The Club has recognized the need to create a strong, consensual network among all the members by following the maxim of "Good rapport, awareness, action, regular follow up and regular evaluation. The Club offers special thanks to the Principal Sister Pramela, for her continuing assistance in carrying out the projects in a very successful way. The Club also thanks all the teachers and students who dedicated themselves in the implementation of projects and made it a grand success.
